Double Negative
This model explores the double negative- where two subtractive voids intersect to create a third condition. Here, I approach the third condition as captured solids. Firstly, the process began by abstracting the method of construction of Amaryllis, a sculpture by Tony Smith. Next, these forms and set of methods were used to create the double negative model. The captured solids exist with in a continuous void and are achieved through a series of perforations and carves into a box. I created a series of apertures and thresholds and therefore strategies for creating spatial conditions. In section, I can control the thresholds and apertures by making them small or large and simple or complex.
